STATEMENT
I often like to say that my first month living in New York and working for EverGreene taught me more than two years of graduate school had. And I actually don’t mean that as an indictment of graduate study! Working with this group of extremely talented artists from all over the globe blew my sense of what it meant to be a working artist wide open- and started some precious long-term friendships. The projects at EverGreene changed my sense of paintings boundaries— where else could you go from learning art-deco reverse gilding on glass to working on a thirty story high mural to restoring the ceiling of the Chrysler building lobby in just a few months. These all became the sort of experiences that I could stand on as my career took shape, and instilled a sense of pride of place and occupation that I don’t think I would have experienced anywhere else.
